Tympanostomy tube. The grommet is less than 2 mm tall, smaller than a match head. Tympanostomy tube, also known as a grommet or myringotomy tube, is a small tube inserted into the eardrum in order to keep the middle ear aerated for a prolonged period of time, and to prevent the accumulation of fluid in the middle ear.

Tonsillectomy

Onsillectomy is a surgical procedure in which both palatine tonsils are fully removed from back the throat.The procedure is mainly performed for recurrent throat infections and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).For those with recurrent throat infections surgery results in fewer infections in the following one or two years, but unclear long term benefits.In OSA it results in improved quality of life.
